Whether I was on a roughly marked country lane or a picture-perfect highway, the Telluride drove itself unaided for quite a while before experiencing any issues. In giving the vehicle a proper workout, I tried HDA on the roads near Blue Mountain ski resort in Carbon County, Pennsylvania. While Kia’s “Lambda” engine is far from being the most powerful we’ve tested, it’s definitely the smoothest.Īll Telluride models arrive from factory with Kia’s Highway Driving Assistance (HDA), a level-two autonomous driving system. However, it provides just enough puff to feel confident merging onto highways and keeping up when you need to use the passing lane. On paper, that might not sound like a lot. Under the hood, the 3.8-liter V6 puts down 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. If I had one word to describe the Telluride’s engine, it would be adequate. ![]()
